Call of the Busbar Part Three

Call of the Busbar Part Three: Apocalypse Road Part One (Hill Road and River Road)
As we rejoin our heroes, Captain Busbar’s frustration is palpable. “I am getting ate up by mosquitoes,” he grumbles, annoyance evident. Groundswell, always empathetic, replies, “I’m sorry, Captain.” The irony isn’t lost on The Copper Powered Components – his invulnerability to stinging insects has faded with his powers, a bitter reminder that his skin is no longer that of copper.
Colton and The Copper Powered Components stand at the crossroads, gazing down the perilous path known as Hill Road. This infamous route, shrouded in darkness, has been unwittingly tainted by generations of good Meigs County residents who have harmlessly used it as a spot to dump dead bodies. Captain Busbar’s voice echoes with unease, “This road has seen too much darkness, and we’re about to confront its shadows head-on.”
Colton’s insight guides The Copper Powered Components. He raises his hand and points towards the skies. “Look up,” he urges, and their eyes follow his gesture. Above them, the coppertailed eagles circle, their majestic flight hampered by the electrical disturbances festering within Eaves Bluff. Unable to land in their aluminum nests, their silver plated eggs growing colder by the day. The coppertailed eagles’ predicament weighs heavily on Captain Busbar’s heart, and he vows aloud, “We must liberate these creatures from their airborne prison, for their wings should not be shackled by darkness. I promise you, copper beasts of the sky, you will know what it feels like to land once again.”
The road ahead is more ominous than they could have imagined. The very path that The Copper Powered Components tread upon, Hill Road, had absorbed countless secrets and tragedies. The innocently dumped bodies left by the inhabitants of the Meigsiverse unknowingly fueled the necromancer’s power, turning a seemingly mundane route into a nexus of malevolence. Captain Busbar’s voice holds a mixture of disdain and determination, “This road is a graveyard of souls, feeding the very darkness that threatens our world.”
Colton’s gaze shifts to the spectral entities swirling around them. “Wraiths, specters, and ghouls,” he murmurs, his voice laden with gravitas. Ampere’s enthusiasm bubbles over as she exclaims, “I see them too, twisting and weaving through the shadows.” Her newfound ability, gifted by Colton’s teachings, allows her to harness electric currents to unveil the invisible and guide them through the ominous darkness. “Let your currents flow with purpose,” Colton’s voice echoes in Ampere’s mind, serving as a beacon of guidance.
Captain Busbar, a mix of annoyance and admiration, chimes in, “You’re quite the genius there, Colton.” The darkness seems less impenetrable now, illuminated by Ampere’s ethereal currents. “Stay close to me,” Ampere commands, “and I will be a light unto our path, verily.” The eerie glow that emanates from Ampere’s powers casts a protective aura, guiding the heroes as they press forward.
Captain Busbar’s grumbling reached a new height as he voiced his complaint about running out of Big League Chew. “Seems like even my beloved chew has abandoned me in this dire situation,” he lamented. A slight chuckle escaped Colton’s lips as he reached into his artifact sack, retrieving an unopened bag of Big League Chew. With a grin, he tossed it to Captain Busbar, saying, “Chew on this Cap!” The camaraderie between the two was evident as they shared a high-five, their clasped hands showcasing their formidable biceps, a symbol of their unity in the face of adversity.
Amidst the unsettling atmosphere, Voltsmaster’s powers come to the fore. His ability to sense electrical fluctuations allows him to detect anomalies, uncovering a hulking metallic form. His metallic voice resonates with discovery, “There’s something over there, behind those new trucks and boats.” Colton, ever the sage, analyzes the mysterious object and senses the tendrils of dark magic wrapped around it. “This,” Colton warns, “reeks of the necromancer’s handiwork. I suspect he used this to haul supplies from The Piggly Wiggly for millennias”
Captain Busbar climbs onto the hulking metallic form, his figure silhouetted against the moonlit night. The weight of leadership settles upon his shoulders as he addresses them, his voice strong and resolute. “Behold,” he declares, “our steed for the journey – an enchanted 1985 Ford Ranger extended bed. Procured from the Lich King of Eaves Bluff.” It’s a peculiar sight, surrounded by the other jacked-up trucks with shiny new boats on their trailers, but Captain Busbar’s determination is unyielding.
“We must execute plan Theta Copper Copper Silver Brass Lamination Alpha,” says Captain Busbar, “The ultimate culmination of our efforts from training and adhering to even stricter standards than industry norms.” Groundswell, ever the cautious one, voices his concerns, “Should we really initiate such an extreme and untested strategy?” Captain Busbar meets his gaze with unwavering resolve, “Yes, my friend. Unfortunately, it’s time to meld your unity with that of Ampere’s and Voltsmaster’s, and transform into a force of unimaginable power. The three of you must laminate together, becoming the ultimate grounding weapon. I pray that your minds won’t be lost in the lamination fusion process, for Apocalypse Road waits for no being, human, superhuman, or busbar.”
